Maureen Breeze began her professional career as an apprentice with the Alwin Nikolais Dance Theatre and the Murray Louis Dance Company. She went on to perform as a member and/or guest artist with numerous companies including Stephen Kaplowitz & Dancers in New York City, The Pat Graney Company in Seattle, and the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Jan Justis Dance, and the Hannah Kahn Dance Company in Denver. In the 1990s, Maureen directed Dance Center Seattle, a center for adult professional and recreational dancers, and founded JUMPSTART/Dance Works, where her choreography received support from the Colorado Council on the Arts (in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts), the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, the Denver Foundation, the McCormick Tribune Foundation, and other granting agencies. She also served as a long‑time guest artist at the Denver School of the Arts. Maureen currently directs her project‑based company, Maureen Breeze Dance Theater, and choreographs as a guest artist for Ballet Melange.
