Mary Ann Magoun is a former professional ballet dancer and accomplished physician whose career bridges the worlds of classical dance, academia, and medicine. She trained with esteemed artists of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, including Nina Novak, and continued her studies at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow and as a scholarship student with the Joffrey Ballet in New York. Her professional dance career includes performances with Ballet Clásico de Caracas, the Joffrey Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and other notable companies.
Magoun earned a BA in Russian Literature and Linguistics from Bryn Mawr College, with additional studies in Moscow and St. Petersburg, before pursuing post-baccalaureate work in chemistry. She went on to receive her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and completed a pediatric residency at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, where she later founded the Pediatric Pain and Headache Clinic and served as an attending physician and assistant professor.
Her multidisciplinary background reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence in both the arts and sciences.
